Don’t silence dissent

Since the beginning of this global pandemic numerous doctors, scientists and experts have been the subject of character assassinations, vilification and defamation all over the world. Did we not hear reports that some disappeared mysteriously? Absolutely mindboggling!

Their sin? Uttering stuff that did not correspond with the popular narrative. Currently there is simply no room for alternative views. It seems that once it was advisable to get a second opinion when it comes to medical care. Nowadays you need to go with the state-sanctioned advice. Anything other than that is a dangerous ‘conspiracy theory’.

The latest victim of this underhand tactics and tyranny is world renowned US scientist Dr. Robert Malone – said to be the pioneer of the mRNA technology, used to develop Covid-19 vaccines - Pfizer, Astra Zeneca and Moderna. Dr Robert Malone, has had his Twitter account suspended since January 4, 2022 – supposedly for spreading ‘misinformation’.

Of course many other scientists also contributed to get his idea to the present stage.

However in normal circumstances Dr. Malone would be someone we would all be interested to hear from, especially during a global pandemic. Of course other scientists might not agree with him but others might. That is how science has developed over the years. Dr. Malone himself was reported by the Daily Mail as saying: “if it’s not okay for me to be part of the conversation even though I am pointing out scientific facts that may be inconvenient then, who is?”

Doesn’t anyone remember what a ‘conspiracy theory’ was also once? The idea that the earth orbited around the sun. The discovery was first proposed by Italian physicist and astronomer, Galileo di Vincenzo de’ Galilei, or Galileo for short. For his ‘crime’ Galileo was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Roman Catholic Church for making such an unpopular claim. Galileo was labelled a heretic and therefore de-platformed from the public squares.

Well, we all know now that what Galileo dared to defend, even at the risk of his safety and personal freedom, has been widely accepted as fact. Sadly Galileo did not live long to be exonerated because he died while under house arrest.

This piece of history should be a lesson to us – that it is never right to silence dissent. People should have a right to hold an opinion, even if it appears far-fetched or unpopular. Such a noble ideal is guaranteed by the Constitution of most democratic countries – which is why it is protected under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights under Article 19.

Particularly important for such a time as today when science appears to be in disarray over the management and containment of a pandemic. Just to provide you with an idea of the sort of heavy handed tactics implemented by various governments worldwide, this piece by CIVICAS – a global civil society alliance, which monitors and tracks the civic space, gives you a good snapshot of the type of actions taken by various countries since the pandemic started.

Is it any wonder that many of the things trumpeted by WHO and institutions such as the CDC and people like Dr. Anthony Fauci as the gospel, are falling apart? Professor Ehud Qimron’s powerful letter to the Israeli Ministry of Health earlier this year provides a great summary of how authorities have failed in their efforts in applying lock-down-based pandemic policies over the last two years. Professor Qimron is an Israeli scientist based at the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University.

So, once it was argued that vaccination was the only way to protecting the vulnerable, the elderly and the sick in our communities. Well, new research is proving this is not entirely true, as this article from The Lancet admits. The significant line in the abstract states:

The scientific rationale for mandatory vaccination in the USA relies on the premise that vaccination prevents transmission to others, resulting in a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”. Yet, the demonstration of COVID-19 breakthrough infections among fully vaccinated health-care workers (HCW) in Israel, who in turn may transmit this infection to their patients requires a reassessment of compulsory vaccination policies leading to the job dismissal of unvaccinated HCW in the USA. Indeed, there is growing evidence that peak viral titres in the upper airways of the lungs and culturable virus are similar in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.’

This article provides a complete U-turn and shows that those who dictate to us what we must believe is wrong. Science should not be monopolised by just a few for their own ends.

In addition, it was once said that natural immunity was completely out of the equation and that it only worked for other illnesses. Well, studies are showing that natural immunity, after infection, does increases your immunity more than if you were vaccinated.

In fact, the CDC is only now recognising natural immunity; whereas before, it was basically discounted, most probably to avoid creating a disincentive for mass vaccination, a drive fully backed by the money men and their accomplices – the pharmaceuticals.

The above represent just a few examples of what we can highlight for the purpose of this write-up. There are so much more that do not add up, not to mention masking, and other COVID protocols, even early treatments. Doctors are scared of practising their medicine as they used to. They cannot try something new, or risk losing monetary incentives and even reprimands.

Galileo’s experience was meant to be a lesson to remind us that there was a time in history when society as a whole – the elites, the educated, even scientists were wrong, even though they represented the majority.

C4J believes it does not help when we shut down debate and persecute people for holding a certain view. Accept that you yourself do not have all the answers to this pandemic. We’re now two years into it. It is clear science is still learning something new about COVID.

C4J vehemently puts to the authorities that discussing other ways of managing the pandemic should be paramount. What authorities are saying should not be treated as the gospel just yet.

In light of suggestion by public officials to mandate booster shots for everyone in Vanuatu, we call on the Government to tread carefully, especially when it comes to people’s rights to make informed decisions.

Just one final thought. Doctors worldwide practice their profession by upholding two key ethical principles: do no harm; and allow people to make informed choices. Notice the key word ‘informed’. We do not think what the public have been signing off on before getting their jabs can be described as ‘informed’. Force, no matter how subtle, is unethical.

As such vaccine mandates have been the subject of court proceedings, especially in the US. Most recently a U.S. appeals courtrefused to reinstate a COVID vaccine mandate for federal employees, declining to overturn a ruling by a federal district court that had frozen the policy.

“The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, in a 2-1 vote, declined to issue a stay against the injunction issued January 21 by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas-Galveston division…”

Both parties to the case have been told to file their arguments in March.

In light of ongoing research and discovery of new information relating to COVID-19 we posit that authorities should not silence dissent, especially when science appears to be still divided.
